HumminBird Helix 7 Chirp GPS G4 Results (My Experience)
After reading about the HumminBird Helix 7 Chirp GPS G4 and its ability to offer a clear and reliable view for more effective fish location, I decided to try it out. The idea of providing advance imaging and GPS sounds like a good way to enhance fishing trips and on-water navigation. The overall feeling was, however, not as great as expected. In certain situations the product gave a moderate performance, but in others the performance did not reach exceptional levels and some cases were the same as a normal fish finder with some fancy marketing.
The limited clarity and consistency of the display was one of the major disappointments. The screen gave sufficient information, but sometimes the images were not as sharp or detailed as they had claimed in promotions. The accuracy of the readings and their interpretation were less than expected in certain conditions. This resulted in a lack of perceived increase in perceived difficulty or complexity of finding fish and understanding underwater structures.
Based on my personal findings, the product had very little effect as compared to the claims made. One of the factors was the overall customer experience. The ability to test the device firsthand revealed many of the customer ratings and reviews to be inflated and not entirely authentic. The price was also quite different from the lower rates offered through other sellers like Amazon, making it questionable whether the price offered is worth the seller’s effort. Moreover, their return policy and refund procedure had become stressful and also the handling was also hard to deal with as it is very surprising.
The design of this product was one area where it stood out. The unit was new, sturdy and well constructed. The display and the User Interface had the appearance of a top-of-the-range fishing gadget, while the physical construction really was good looking. But, the presentation and design of this device was really impressive and the promises it made in its promotional materials was not met through performance.
Conclusion
The HumminBird Helix 7 Chirp GPS G4 meets some of its promises of a better, more efficient and clearer fish-finding experience but, as noted above, the results are not spectacular. It may still be an alternative for the recreational fisherman on a casual outing, but is not quite up to the hype generated by its promotion. Customers who have never used the product should be cautious before they buy it, have realistic expectations, and know that it is possible that the product’s real performance could differ from what is advertized or implied by customer reviews.
